Yahoo! Launches Three International Auction Services

May 13, 1999

Yahoo! Inc. Thursday
rolled out its Yahoo! Auctions service to three of its international sites, Yahoo! Australia & New Zealand, Yahoo! Canada and Yahoo! UK &
Ireland.

Features of the new service include local auction content and access to auctions from other areas in the world, including the U.S. The auctions are free, with no commissions or listing fees.

The auctions can be accessed at Yahoo! Australia, Yahoo! New Zealand, Yahoo! Canada and Yahoo! UK and Ireland.

The sites provide collectors and sellers with areas to browse, buy, and sell a variety of items internationally and sellers can market items in local currency to anyone in the world.
In addition the sites will offer currency converters to aid in calculating foreign auction prices into local currency.

All sites will also have a Yahoo! Charity Auction program, so that each region can raise funds for various local charities.

Yahoo! initially launched its auction services in the U.S. in September 1998. That site offers more than 2,000 categories including arts & entertainment, toys & games, antiques & collectibles, electronics &
cameras, computers, sports, & recreation, and home & garden.

“Yahoo! continues to strive to be the single place on the Web that individuals
need to go to find and connect with others who have similar interests – within
their own area or around the world,” said Mark Inkster, director of
international
operations at Yahoo!

“Yahoo! Auctions provides buyers and sellers in
Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United
States with a global marketplace to easily find relevant parties and conduct
person-to-person transactions,” Inkster said.
