Yahoo! is on a mission to get its users organized. The company debuted a new Web-based calendar tool today and announced the acquisition of a calendaring and scheduling product developer.

The leading Internet hub raised the curtain on Yahoo! Calendar, a full-featured personal calendar available free of charge to registered Yahoo! users.

Yahoo! said the tool is the latest offering in its family of customizable services which include Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! Pager.

The calendar service is designed to provide individuals with access to the meeting management service from any computer connected to the Internet. Other features include a to-do list, a reminder service of important events and dates, flexible viewing options, and a one-time registration process.

Yahoo! also stated that the calendar is compatible with other organization programs such as Microsoft Outlook and 3Com’s PalmPilot and Palm III devices.

In conjunction with the calendar tool launch, Yahoo! also announced the acquisition of WebCal Corp., a developer and marketer of Web-based calendaring and scheduling products, and publisher of EventCal, a database of world-wide public events.

A spokesperson from Yahoo! told InternetNews.com today that the acquisition was completed on July 17, 1998. The deal was accounted for as a pooling of interests. Financial figures were not disclosed.
