Yahoo! Unveils Insurance Center

Yahoo! today announced
the launch of a new Insurance Center on Yahoo! Finance in conjunction with Internet insurance marketplace InsWeb.

Yahoo! said the resource will enable users to comparison shop among a host of brand-name insurance carriers. An online form designed with InsWeb analyzes user’s answers and then delivers various company quotes on auto, life, health, homeowners, and renters insurance options.

Insurance beginners are also offered a general insurance FAQ and insurance-related articles featuring news and advice for finding a suitable plan.

“We continue to expand Yahoo! Finance’s personal finance areas by teaming
up with leading companies such as InsWeb to provide users comprehensive
resources for everyday financial issues, such as insurance, loans, investing
and taxes,” said Mike Riley, producer for Yahoo! Finance. “With the Yahoo!
Finance Insurance Center, users now have a quick and simple way to research
different insurance options and find the one that best suits their situation.”

Today’s announcement follows an insurance marketing deal that competitor AOL signed with Provident American Insurance for $8 million on March 26.

In other Yahoo!-related news today, the company announced an expansion of its agreement with CDnow under which the online music retailer will become the premier seller of music for Yahoo! Mail and music chat rooms.

CDnow will also receive promotional exposure throughout Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! Chat.
