Adauction.com took a step off-line,
saying it will host the auction of advertising space on “one of the nation’s
most desired billboards” — on Highway 101, Silicon Valley’s main
thoroughfare, near San Francisco International Airport.

Adauction.com said it is conducting this “first-of-its-kind” auction to
demonstrate how the online auction process can provide equal access to
high-demand ad space for all buyers, while also giving venue owners the
opportunity to reach a larger audience of media buyers.

In order to generate interest Adauction.com is running its own ad on the
billboard with copy that reads, “Next Item Up For Bid: This Billboard.” The
auction opens July 15.

Adauction.com provides a business-to-business e-commerce service for buying
and selling media. More than 4,000 media buyers are registered.
