CareerBuilder Adds Spanish Listings

Online career/job listings site CareerBuilder.com wants to
help clients reach a more diverse audience, so it has added Spanish
language job listings.

With some estimates of the size of the Hispanic and Latino online
populations now adding up to around 11 million, CareerBuilder.com is wasting
no time reaching out to the fastest growing demographic group in the United States.
The move follows recent initiatives to appeal to African Americans,
company officials said.

The decision to offer Spanish-language job postings is especially important
to clients that are located in major Latino population centers, such as
Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas, New York and Chicago.

The site’s bilingual job search center includes job postings from more than
25,000 employers (out of about 400,000 total job listings). Although the customers say they want to reach as diverse an audience as possible in their recruitment efforts, they are also interested in searching for bilingual candidates, said Amado Izaguirre, vice president of business development at CareerBuilder. The search center defines job search criteria by company, job type, industry, city and state.
The listings include hourly-wage and salaried positions.

By most if not all estimates by those performing demographic research,
Latinos are the
fastest-growing population in the U.S. Izaguirre said it just makes sense
for CareerBuilder.com to add the Spanish-language service to its job
listings. “We’re always trying to strengthen our offerings and our appeal
to diverse groups,” he said. “One of the things we know is, employers and customers are asking us to
reach diverse demographics.”

CareerBuilder is joint-owned by the three largest newspaper chains in the
country: Gannett , which owns USA Today, Tribune Co. , owner of The Chicago Tribune, and Knight-Ridder .
