DoubleClick Buys Data Management Company

DoubleClick announced on Tuesday the acquisition of CSC Advanced Database Solutions, a privately held data management company.

The acquisition adds another product to DoubleClick’s marketing technology suite, joining its e-mail, ad serving, campaign management, catalog and analytics services.

Financial terms of the cash deal were not disclosed.

Schaumburg, Ill.-based CSC provides data management services to more that 100 customers, mostly focusing on the retail, catalog, financial services and catalog industries. CSC offers a variety of data services, including needs analyses, data hygiene and overlay, and marketing strategies.

With CSC, DoubleClick will greatly increase its database skills, adding a company that has worked at data management for more than two decades. Currently, DoubleClick offers data management to a smattering of Abacus and e-mail customers.

The company plans to eventually build data management into its own offering. It will join Abacus, Ensemble, DART, DARTmail, and other products in the suite of marketing technology services. DoubleClick envisions data management serving as a link between its e-mail, campaign management, and analytics offerings, solidifying its services suite as an all-in-one solution for clients’ marketing technology needs.

The two companies already share 20 customers, and DoubleClick would like to cross-sell CSC customers its variety of other services, in addition to bringing its current customers into the data-management fold.

CSC’s 100 employees will move over to DoubleClick. In addition to its suburban Chicago headquarters, CSC maintains a satellite office in Portland.
