DoubleClick to Launch AltaVista Holiday Shopping Guide

Oct 16, 1998

Ad network DoubleClick Inc. and
Compaq’s AltaVista search site will launch the
AltaVista Holiday Shopping Guide during the last week in October.

The shopping guide was created to help consumers search for and find the
online stores of their favorite merchants. It includes a directory-like
structure and an interactive gift guide and provides users with an opportunity
to sign up for special offers from selected merchants.

AltaVista and DoubleClick will be promoting the guide on the AltaVista
homepage and through an extensive online advertising campaign.

The three-month promotion is focused on delivering mass reach to advertisers
and includes placement within the shopping guide and prominent exposure on the
AltaVista home page. DoubleClick has created three levels of sponsorship,
which vary in prominence, reach and pricing.

DoubleClick said it has worked closely with Compaq to extend this opportunity
to Compaq’s Presario e-commerce partners, including Amazon.com, N2K,
1-800-Flowers, Reel.com, DVD Express and Junglee.
