Excite Adds Ad Sales Execs, Opens Detroit Office

Oct 14, 1998

Excite Inc. in Redwood City, CA added two
senior advertising sales executives and opened a Detroit office.

John Kelly was named vice president, national sales manager in New York and
Joe Parke as regional sales manager for Excite Detroit.

“Detroit is a critical market for advertising and for the Internet,” said
Kenny Wachtel, senior vice president, ad sales, at Excite. “We are seeing the
major car brands derive revenues and returns from the Internet that can’t be
found elsewhere and want to help them further recognize the potential of the
Internet. We also want to support the online marketing campaigns of non-
automotive companies in Detroit to take full advantage of the Internet.”

Sales directors of the New York, Chicago and San Francisco offices will report
directly to Kelly. For the last two years, John ran the New York sales office
of the Arts and Entertainment cable network. Before that he spent 14 years at
the CBS Television Network.

Parke most recently was with Imperial Marketing in Detroit as a senior
marketing executive.
