Digital marketer ValueClick has hired Andrew Jacobson as vice president of Eastern sales. Jacobson last served as vice president of DoubleClick’s
U.S. media division, where he held responsibility for all media teams including the DoubleClick network and DoubleClick’s e-mail list and newsletter services. Before that role, Jacobson led marketing, sales, product management and customer support for DoubleClick’s Sonar division. Jacobson also built a list management and list brokerage division for the company, called DoubleClick Email Media.
“It is a testament to ValueClick’s media and technology solutions and market position that we are able to attract a leader of Andrew’s capabilities, experience and proven track record,” stated James Zarley, ValueClick’s chairman and chief executive officer.
AltaVista has hired Bert Panganiban to its Internet division’s domestic sales team. As regional sales manager for the Southeastern U.S., Panganiban will manage regional accounts and push advertising and sponsorship revenue across AltaVista.
Panganiban’s last worked for AOL Time Warner , where he was regional brand manager. Prior to that, he was Southeast director of media sales for Flycast Communications and Engage, responsible for driving new online ad programs. Additionally, Panganiban served as Southwest/Midwest district sales manager for Ziff-Davis and held media sales positions with The Papert Companies of Dallas Texas, The Odessa American, and The Dallas-Times Herald.
Interactive agency Freestyle Interactive has promoted Chief Operating Officer Toby Gabriner to president. Before joining Freestyle, Gabriner was with Web services company ISL, where he established the firm’s project management methodology. He also initiated that company’s growth strategy in the European market. His additional background includes a number of years in management and IT consulting.
AtomicPR has picked up two new clients. Crossroads Systems , a storage networks management firm, tapped Atomic for all public relations services; and software developer Tekadence will use the firm for a single upcoming product push.
“We selected AtomicPR as our agency because of our past relationships with the founders, their strong storage industry experience and existing media relationships,” said Heather Corcoran, senior marcom manager of Crossroads.
Software-based online ad network Gator has hired Matt Prohaska as director of sales in New York. Prohaska is charged with increasing the company’s sales presence in the New York community of agencies, clients, and the online industry at large.
Prohaska’s online work began at BBDO in 1994, as the agency’s first online media buyer. He worked on one of the first major online sports sponsorships, when Pizza Hut became title sponsor of ESPN.com’s NCAA Tournament Sweepstakes in 1995. Prohaska then became CNET’s first New York salesperson, covering the Eastern U.S. in early 1996, and was later named one of the first dedicated salespeople dedicated exclusively to “beyond the banner” sponsorships. Following CNET, he was on the launch team of Sesamestreet.com, as national director of sales for the online division of Sesame Workshop. In 2001, Prohaska led the Eastern sales and business development divisions of music publisher Listen.com.
Tacoda Systems, a marketing data integration software company launched last summer, has named Charles Smith as vice president of operations. Smith was most recently executive vice president for corporate development at Real Media, where he was an original founder along with David Morgan. He served the company in a variety of roles from 1996 through the end of 2001, including chief marketing officer, vice president of advertising, and vice president of network development.
Digital marketer and online consultancy RappDigital has promoted Interactive Account Director Caroline Chilvers to the new position of group account director.In the new role, Chilvers will oversee all account service functions, including process improvement, quality assurance, staffing, product delivery and all account service functions.
