Digital marketing firm Avenue A has added Mike Slade, former chairman and CEO of Starwave Corporation, to its board. At Starwave, Slade was responsible for the launch of ESPN.com, ABCNews.com, NBA.com, and NFL.com.
Slade began his career at Microsoft in 1983 and spent seven years there in a variety of product marketing roles. Since retiring from Starwave after its sale to Walt Disney in 1998, Slade has consulted to Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
“Mike’s extensive professional accomplishments, as well as his industry relationships, are a huge asset to Avenue A,” said Nick Hanauer, chairman of the Avenue A board.
QAD has selected Aprimo to help manage its direct and Web-based marketing campaigns. QAD, which produces ERP and supply chain software for global manufacturers, will deploy three Aprimo modules (direct marketing, lead management, and Web response management) throughout its global marketing department. Aprimo’s enterprise marketing management (EMM) software will be integrated with QAD’s sales force automation (SFA) platform to help facilitate qualified lead distribution.

Return Path, a provider of e-mail change of address (ECOA) services, has appointed Anita Absey as vice president of sales. The announcement coincides with the formation of Return Path’s customer advisory board, to be chaired by former VP of sales Dave Paulus.
Before joining Return Path, Absey was director of client development for USADATA and held senior sales management positions at DoubleClick, including SVP of new markets for Abacus Direct, a division of DoubleClick.
