Execs and Accounts for May 20, 2002

Interactive marketing firm Modem Media has filled several management positions in its San Francisco office. Dan Springer has been appointed as managing director, Kamal Nabijee as vice president of technology, and Melissa Eisenberg as vice president of marketing strategy and services.

Dan Springer joined the firm from Telleo, where he was chief executive officer. Springer has also held positions with NextCard, McKinsey & Co., and Pacific Telesis. Kamal Nabijee joins Modem Media from Organic. His background includes technology leadership roles at iXL and Lante. Melissa Eisenberg’s last role was at The Peppers and Rogers Group, where she was a partner, leading the firm’s channel management and technology industry practices. Her previous positions included vice president at Zamba Solutions and principal with IBM Global Services.

“The addition of these new, senior leadership roles to our West Coast office reflects the growth this office has achieved during the past year,” said Marc Particelli, president and CEO of Modem Media.

Restaurant franchise Wendy’s International has launched a redesigned version of the company’s High School Heisman Web site. The site, which was created by Agency.com, was designed to effectively promote and facilitate entries for the growing awards program. Wendy’s High School Heisman (WHSH) program was created to honor top students who excel in academics, athletics and community service, across the country.

Agency.com has also appointed Michael Jackson to the role of executive vice president and chief financial officer. Jackson, who joined the company in 1999, has been acting chief financial officer since October and was chief accounting officer and vice president of corporate finance, prior to that.

Oskar, a mobile operator in the Czech Republic, has tapped interactive marketer and mobile developer Symblaze to provide ongoing interactive marketing services.

Oskar intends to use Symblaze’s services to “extend marketing activities into new areas in support of the brand,” according to a spokesperson, through interactive and mobile marketing solutions. The first of these will be an interactive trivia game and will launch in May 2002 to support Oskar’s recently reached millionth customer milestone. Additionally, Symblaze has said it will establish its European presence by opening a headquarters in Prague.

“Symblaze couldn’t be more pleased to be launching European operations with Oskar,” said Dario Fasciano, Symblaze’s senior vice president and managing director of Europe and Asia Pacific. “Working with a major wireless operator in Central Europe is an important component in our global expansion strategy.”
