Internet search site operator Infoseek Corp. began an online ad campaign promoting its scheduled live Webcast later this month of yet another Woodstock concert.
The ad campaign, created by San Francisco agency Left Field, will hit more 600 entertainment, gaming, news and technology sites and include a package of banner ads, splash screens, television commercial-like interstitial, e-mail ads, and buttons, Reuters reported. Billings were not disclosed.
“We put this promotion together in a little more than a week,” Michael McMahon, founder and media technology director at Left Field, was quoted as saying. “We dedicated a team to this project.”
Scheduled for Aug. 14-16, the concert will be held at the site of the original Woodstock on Max Yasgur’s farm in upstate New York and will feature artists such as Don Henley, Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell and Pete Townshend.
Infoseek’s director of advertising, Karen Carbonnet, said the producer of “A Day in the Garden” concert, GF Entertainment, bypassed television and radio networks to offer Infoseek exclusive airing rights because it was interested in technology. “They were looking for someone who could perform a superior
Webcast for the event,” Carbonnet said.
