internet.com Thursday acquired Xceed‘s publishing business ChannelSeven.com in a
deal that fosters the Internet portal’s desire to widen its spectrum of
marketing news and analysis.
Financial details were not disclosed.
The combination of the e-marketing resources of the two companies strengthens internet.com’s (INTM) position in the advertising and marketing industry, said Mara Lipacis, senior vice president of Xceed’s (XCED) research and analysis division, Xceed Intelligence.
internet.com, which publishes this Web site, currently has several marketing resources including Internet Advertising Report and AdResource.com. The ChannelSeven.com properties will be integrated into internet.com’s marketing/e-commerce channel.
“Xceed built and conceived ChannelSeven,” said Lipacis. “internet.com’s interest reflects Xceed’s commitment to building Web businesses. We believe Alan Meckler’s vision is strong and we are proud to be involved.”
Besides fleshing out internet.com’s content and news scope this acquisition adds an audience that the portal finds crucial to its success.
Alan Meckler, chief executive officer and chairman of internet.com, said the fresh eyes entering his portal extend the company’s marketing reach and advertiser objectives, not to mention e-commerce initiatives.
ChannelSeven.com said it captures 100,000 Internet marketing executives a month with 43 percent of its users coming from agencies and 31 percent from brand marketing.
internet.com is the publisher of internetnews.com.
