Micron Plans Integrated Multi-Million-Dollar Campaign

Aug 25, 1998

Direct computer seller Micron Electronics Inc. said it
will launch a corporate advertising campaign designed to position the company
as the systems vendor of choice for growing businesses and “driven users.”

The new campaign, set to debut the first week of September, is targeted at
users and companies that are dedicated to leveraging the latest, most powerful
technology in their drive to win.

Micron, reportedly the third largest provider of computers sold through the
direct channel, said it intends to grow its share of the market by becoming a
trusted partner and resource for entrepreneurial users and growing companies
that are seeking the latest, most powerful computer systems and services to
help them compete and win in today’s “new economy.”

Central to the advertising campaign is the tagline “New Rules. New Tools.” The
company said the tagline conveys to target customers that Micron not only
understands that the fundamental rules of business are changing radically, but
that these new rules are forcing successful companies and users to seek out
the latest and most powerful technological tools and partnerships available.

Micron said the multi-million dollar campaign (specifics were not disclosed)
will begin with print ads in early September, targeted at both technology
trade magazines and business publications, including the inside front covers
of PC World, PC Magazine, PC Computing, Windows Magazine and PC Week. Online
advertising and broadcast campaigns are being developed for later delivery.

The campaign was created for Micron through Bam! Advertising.
Billings were not disclosed.
