Content delivery solution company Sandpiper Networks Inc. announced
partnerships with five Internet firms to develop new services for its Content
Delivery Network: ABC Interactive, Microsoft Corp., Real Media, RealNetworks
and Vignette.
Using Sandpiper’s new application program interface (API), Real Media’s Open AdStream ad server
product can be integrated with Footprint, Sandpiper’s Content Delivery
Network (CDN).
As a result, Web publishers can leverage the power of
Sandpiper’s global network and Real Media’s Open AdStream to deliver global
ads faster and more reliably, Sandpiper said.
ABC Interactive is working
with Sandpiper to ensure that activity associated with content delivered by
Footprint is appropriately accounted for and auditable.
Microsoft Windows Media Technologies will
be integrated with Sandpiper’s CDN, enabling Internet content providers and
e-businesses to provide streaming and downloadable media to millions of
simultaneous users.
Vignette will integrate Vignette
StoryServer 4 software with Sandpiper’s content delivery network.
RealNetwork’s RealSystem G2 streaming media
app also has been integrated with Sandpiper’s CDN, enabling an optimized and
scaleable network for customers of G2 servers.
Sandpiper’s other Footprint customers include CNBC.com, WireBreak, E! Online,
Intuit, LATimes.com, Live On Line, MusicNow and University Netcasting.
