Thrifty Car Rental, Blockbuster Launch Web Promo

Oct 15, 1998

Thrifty Car Rental, in conjunction with Blockbuster On-Line, is offering a
virtual road trip promotion on the Web in search of clues that could win users
a trip for two to Los Angeles and the annual Blockbuster Entertainment Awards
in 1999.

Called “LA or Bust–Get the Show on the Road,” the contest offers those who
successfully gather all of the clues en route to be entered in a drawing for
one trip for two to the fifth annual Blockbuster Entertainment Awards in 1999
in Los Angeles.

The publicly voted awards honor the top-performing movies and music releases
from the previous year.

The contest is being held in conjunction with a multi-million dollar promotion
in which customers who rent a car from Thrifty will, upon request, receive a
Blockbuster Value Card good for one free movie rental at participating
Blockbuster stores for a limited
time. Frequent flyer program members may elect to receive two Blockbuster
Value Cards or receive frequent flyer miles with their car rental.

The contest is available at www.thrifty.com or www.blockbuster.com. It can also be
accessed from Yahoo! Internet Life magazine’s site or the official contest
Web site.

The promotion is valid through Dec. 15.
