San Francisco-based Web YP Inc. acquired the assets of rival On’Village Inc.
of Los Angeles.

The acquisition consolidates the company’s WorldPages.com as “the
leading independent Internet yellow pages with more than 80 sales
partnerships representing over 1,500 sales representatives, and more than
35,000 local advertisers,” the company said. Financial terms of the deal
were not disclosed.

The On’Village.com Internet
yellow pages service will become part of the WorldPages site. All of
On’Village’s partners and advertisers will be served under the arrangement
and key On’Village personnel will join WorldPages including Jack Tracht,
former CEO, and Jack Austin, former senior vice president of sales.

“On’Village has built a terrific set of sales partnerships, and we welcome
them all to the WorldPages organization. We are absolutely committed to this
market, and since we are print yellow pages publishers ourselves we know what
it takes to succeed over the long-run,” said Dick Reid, chairman and CEO of
Web YP/WorldPages, and president of Tahoe Telephone Directories.
