Webstakes Launches its Own Promotion

Jun 1, 1998

Webstakes in New York City, a provider of
targeted traffic for online advertisers through Internet sweepstakes and
sponsorships, recently launched the Scandinavian Invasion Sweepstakes.

The company, which specializes in turnkey custom Internet promotions designed
to drive and retain Web site traffic for leading marketers, created the eight-week Scandinavian Invasion Sweepstakes with that same objective in mind–only this time for itself.

The promotion is being supported by a humorous ad banner campaign which is
currently running on over 20 major Web sites.

While offering players a chance to “head North” by registering to win a seven-day trip for two to the Scandinavian capitals of Oslo, Norway and Copenhagen,
Denmark, Webstakes invites participants to visit the Webstakes.com interactive
Web site. Once there, players can enter to win even more prizes from
Webstakes’ numerous online marketers through nine targeted channels of
interest which include Music, Leisure, Entertainment, Technology, Casino,
Sports, Campus, Family and Business.

“With the Scandinavian Invasion Sweepstakes, we are running our own custom
promotion,” said Steven H. Krein, president and co-founder of Webstakes. “We
designed the sweepstakes–which is the only the first of many like this that
we plan to execute in the coming months–as . . . a way to increase traffic to
the Webstakes.com site and, in turn, build additional exposure for our
advertisers’ sites and products.”
