Winkler Advertising in San Francisco has
been named agency of record for CyberStar, the new data communications
company created by Loral Space and Communications.
Loral is a multi-billion dollar satellite and communications company based in
New York City.
Winkler said it will develop global branding and advertising for CyberStar,
which plans an aggressive media program for 1998 and beyond, targeting both
the enterprise and home consumer markets. CyberStar provides satellite-based,
broadband data communications services.
“This is a great win for the agency,” said Agnieszka Winkler, president and
CEO of Winkler Advertising. “Satellites are becoming increasingly important
for both data and voice communications, and I see the advertising in this
category getting very interesting. We’re excited to help CyberStar build a
new, global brand.”
“We chose Winkler as our agency because of their ability to create
communications that humanize complex technology, which is what we need to
establish CyberStar as the leading global communications brand,” said Emil
Regard, vice president of marketing and business development at CyberStar.
Loral Space and Communications is a satellite manufacturer and provider of
satellite-based services. Another Loral joint venture, Globalstar, will use
low-earth orbit satellites (LEO) to offer world-wide mobile and fixed
telephone services. Globalstar works with Grey Advertising, which made an
equity investment in Winkler in June 1997.
Winkler is a full-service advertising agency, with a special expertise in
helping clients build global technology brands. Clients include Sony
Electronics, CyberStar, Hewlett-Packard, Eidos Interactive, Command Audio,
CTI America, Ascend Communications, and LSI Logic.
