Netzip signed a partnership deal that allows ZDNet to use Netzip’s Download Demon technology to
deliver advertising to its user base.

Netzip’s download technology also allows users to control their downloads
with pause, resume and reconnect features. Financial arrangements were not
disclosed.

Download Demon will allow ZDNet to deliver content to users through a
customizable info-Window that appears on the desktop during downloads.

The
info-Window allows users to check news headlines from ZDNet News, read the
latest commentary on ZDNet
AnchorDesk, surf through the latest games on ZDNet’s GameSpot, etc, during
download “down time.”

“ZDNet will be able to offer advertisers a powerful new marketing tool for
delivering high impact messages to an attentive audience of downloaders,” said
Pete Deemer, general manager of ZDNet’s Services Group.
