Critical Patches To Windows, Office Due July 11

Microsoft plans to issue “critical” patches for both Windows and Office as part of its monthly patch release schedule, due next Tuesday, July 11.

The company issued an advisory on Thursday that it will issue four bulletins for Windows flaws and three for Office, at least one for both Office and Windows will be labeled “critical.”

Critical patches are considered the highest-risk category for security problems. As is its practice, Microsoft> did not reveal what those security flaws are.

In addition to the seven updates, Microsoft plans to issue an update to the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool and a non-security-related high-priority update. The company would not say what the high-priority update is related to.

There will be a webcast on Wednesday, July 12 at 2006 11:00 AM Pacific Time to discuss the patches.
