Free Web Services; Costly Security Risks

No one should complain about a lack of free entertainment on the Web. From music, videos and so-called “adult entertainment,” Web surfers have a seemingly endless supply of entertainment-oriented sites to choose from.

But as a new report from security vendor McAfee details, there’s a hidden cost to many of these free services. eSecurity Planet delves into what McAfee researchers found in its “The True Cost of Free Entertainment” study. Hint, think security risk.


There’s no such thing as “free” porn or MP3s — at least not for long, according to a new report from security software provider and Intel acquisition, McAfee.

In a report (available in PDF format here) appropriately titled, “The True Cost of Free Entertainment,” McAfee researchers detailed the expected risks of flitting about from search engine to search engine in the quest for free content.
