Microsoft’s monthly patch day will be next Tuesday, December 12, and this month’s batch appears smaller than the last few. The company will issue five security bulletins for Microsoft Windows, and one for Visual Studio.
With the Windows updates, at least one will be Critical, and some of them will require a restart. The Visual Studio fix is also considered to be Critical, the highest level of concern.
In addition to the patches, Microsoft will offer an updated version of the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool designed to remove the most prevalent forms of malware
Also, in addition to the security-related fixes, Microsoft will release four non-security High-Priority updates through Windows Update and Software Update Services (SUS), and 10 non-security updates, available through Microsoft Update (MU) and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).
As it has in the past, Microsoft will hold a webcast the following day, Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 11:00 AM Pacific Time to discuss the patches.
