Not yet August, and already comes a release touting an online holiday
shopping site: Bloomingdale’s is planning an
interactive window display at the 59th Street store in Manhattan.

The plan is to provide window shoppers the option to “beam” various Top Ten
gift lists to their Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) handheld devices from a
similar device in the store window. The feature will be offered starting
around Thanksgiving, a Bloomies spokesperson told InternetNews.com.

At its annual Holiday Press Preview event, Bloomies execs said that
bloomingdales.com will offer online shoppers a variety of Top Ten gift lists,
updated weekly, including Top Ten Most Popular, Top Ten Only@Bloomingdales’
and Top Ten Gifts Under $100.

Web customers can share gift ideas and add items to their wish lists as they
browse the site, then e-mail the lists to family and friends, Bloomies said.
The Wish Lists can also be printed for quick reference when shopping for
gifts in-store and through the catalog. Wish Lists are available after
customers register with the site.

The Web site will also feature an online holiday home planning section that
showcases trends and offers advice in home furnishing, decorating and party
planning.

And Bloomingdales.com will even present the celebrated “making of the holiday
store windows” via a Webcast, complete with the official window unveiling.
