B2B e-commerce solutions company Commerce One signed a deal with
e-commerce infrastructure solutions provider Netegrity Inc. to license the latter’s
SiteMinder product and will bundle it into the Commerce One MarketSite Portal

Commerce One said the arrangement will help to provide its customers with a
secure portal management infrastructure on which to build e-marketplaces for
exchanging goods and services worldwide, including entitlement management,
delegated administration, and single sign-on across the entire Commerce One
Global Trading Web.

SiteMinder will be used by Commerce One as the secure portal management
infrastructure for its MarketSite Portal Solution technology.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

SiteMinder will provide Commerce One with:

  • Centralized management — including single sign-on across all Commerce One
    e-marketplaces
  • Authentication management — permitting Commerce One to leverage SiteMinder
to integrate public key infrastructure (PKI) technology, password management,
smart cards, custom forms, and even biometric capabilities into its
    applications
  • Entitlement management — permitting policies to be centrally created to
manage user access to all applications within the e-marketplace
  • Delegated administration — Delegates entitlement and policy management
across organizations, or even corporate boundaries, to make administration
    easier and less costly

Commerce One’s MarketSite Portal Solution is currently being used by more
than 75 Global 1000 Internet market makers.
