St. Louis-based Genelco Inc. introduced a suite of Internet
products and services called WebHarbor to help insurance and financial
services companies conduct electronic commerce.
WebHarbor, designed for insurers and other financial services firms, enables
companies to complete fully secured transactions with their sales
representatives and customers.
“With these products, companies can tap into the power and reach of the
Internet,” said Jym Barnes, executive vice president of Internet Services at
the company. “They can be more flexible and more responsive, and therefore
more competitive. WebHarbor’s ability to interface with any administration
system builds better relationships between the company, its producers and its
customers.”
Two security platforms form the infrastructure–Secure Electronic Commerce
Platform (SECP) and AuthenticateWeb.
SECP provides for secure Internet and intranet transactions. SECP ensures
users are communicating with an authorized site while keeping the integrity of
all transactions safely encrypted beyond the site’s firewall.
AuthenticateWeb reduces site administration tasks by requiring the browser to
log on only once, rather than multiple times, to access multiple company
records. AuthenticateWeb supports several types of authentication including
user name/password and smart cards.
Components include AgentWeb, which enables producers to access policyholder,
product, and commission information online or offline; AccountWeb, which
allows customers around-the-clock access to their accounts; AppWeb, which
distributes via the Internet high-quality electronic forms that can be
completed online or offline; and Customer CareWeb, which enables the producer
or customer to enter an Internet service queue with their “captured” screen
report, question and phone number.
The customer service representative can immediately acknowledge the request
and view any previous requests before replying by phone or e-mail to the
producer or customer.
Genelco is a subsidiary of General American Life Insurance Co. and develops
life, group health, financial, and Internet software.
