GlobeSet Inc. delivered GlobeSet ServerPOS for merchants, banks, Internet and commerce service providers.
The product offers a software solution built upon the current SET Marked
GlobeSet POS, a payment server application that connects the merchant to the
cardholder’s wallet application and to financial payment gateways.
The GlobeSet ServerPOS is a multiple protocol server that supports both
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), and Secure Electronic Transaction (SET)
payments. The architecture provides merchants with a transparent migration
path to SET, allowing for secure transactions with encryption and
authentication, the company said.
GlobeSet ServerPOS is comprised of a POS engine that resides on a centralized
server at the acquiring bank or service provider location and performs all
associated payment transaction operations. A storefront adapter, residing at
the merchant’s Web server, is a thin client that securely links the
storefront’s shop-and-buy application to the POS engine over the Internet.
Pricing was not disclosed.
Traditional POS applications typically require the merchant to host a server
application that handles transaction request information between a customer’s
electronic wallet and a financial payment gateway. With the advent of the
GlobeSet ServerPOS, the merchant now has the ability to link between a
storefront adapter and a server-based POS engine at a bank or service
provider’s operation center. This eliminates the need for the
merchant to become proficient in hosting and managing Internet payment
systems, the company said.
