Internet Travel Network (ITN), an online
travel service, has shifted its senior management assignments for greater
focus on its business development and strategic partnerships.
The realignment, effective immediately, is designed to more strongly position
ITN to take advantage of the rapidly growing opportunities within the
burgeoning Internet travel industry that is already the second largest
segment for e-commerce.
Dick Whilden, ITN board chairman, takes on the additional roles of president
and CEO. Current President Ken Swanton was named vice chairman of the board
with special responsibilities for strategic partnerships and planning.
Founders and vice presidents Dan Whaley and Bruce Yoxsimer will form and
operate a new Business Development unit within ITN.
Whilden assumes all day-to-day responsibility for the company. “The
realignment of ITN’s senior management team and the focus on business
development will ensure that we will continue our innovative work and
exponential growth in the online travel industry,” said Whilden.
Swanton also takes the lead on ITN’s mission and business plan issues, as well
as supporting acquisition, investment, and fund raising. Responsibilities for
the Business Development group will include investigating leading-edge
technologies, advanced product development, and strategic technology
alliances.
The group also will focus on enhancements to current ITN products and
distribution channels.
