Internet guide network The Mining Co. today announced marketing alliances with seven companies to provide exclusive placement in the network’s new e-commerce area, Mining Co. Marketplace.
The companies include AtHand, BigStar, BMG Direct, eBay, HomeShark, Trading Direct and ValuPage.
Financial details were not disclosed.
Marketplace is an area designed to offer e-commerce partners the
opportunity for long-term, exclusive exposure throughout the entire
MiningCo.com network, as well as the ability to target users with
customized promotions tied to content that matches users’ interests. The
section appears throughout the network of Internet Guides, the company said.
“Our Marketplace initiative provides marketers with the ability to have a
commerce presence throughout our network, on every page,” said Alan Wragg,
president of advertising sales and e-commerce for The Mining Co. “Moreover,
these merchants can increase their promotional effectiveness by tailoring
messages to specific user segments.”
The Mining Co., a division of General Internet Inc., reportedly attracted
2.4 million unique users in July and experienced 45.2% growth in reach
since April 1998.
