Internet guide network The Mining Co., a division of
General Internet Inc., signed deals with 13 commerce sites that have secured
exclusive placements in the Mining Co. Holiday
Marketplace.
The commerce area is a companion to the Mining Co.’s “Wired Holidays” content
special, which features Mining Co. Guides highlighting the best holiday sites
and information on the Web.
Financial details of the Holiday Marketplace deals were not disclosed.
However, combined with other Marketplace considerations, the combined value is
several million dollars, the company said.
Meanwhile, The Mining Co. said that Web usage measurement firm
RelevantKnowledge recently reported a 34 percent increase from September to October
in the number of unique visitors to MiningCo.com, ranking it as the 28th most-
visited Web property overall for the month of October.

“Marketers want to put their products in front of users who are proven online
purchasers,” said Alan Wragg, president of advertising sales and e-commerce at
the Mining Co. “It is proven that the Mining Co. delivers those shoppers and
buyers more efficiently.”
The Mining Co. is a network of 500 branded Web hubs offering expert guidance
on more than 12,000 topics. General Internet Inc., the parent of The Mining
Co., is a privately held Internet service development company.
