San Francisco-based Intershop Communications Inc. has been
selected by Internet service provider PSINet Inc. as the store design and
management component of PSINet’s electronic commerce service.
The new offering complements PSINet’s suite of Web hosting products and
services available to businesses that want to enter the electronic commerce arena.
Intershop’s scalable hosting solutions with complete back-office management
and advanced store design tools are designed to serve the business models of
mid-size to large enterprises.
“The addition of Intershop to PSINet’s e-commerce services follows our
strategy of choosing best-of-breed tools that provide merchants with high
functionality and ease of use,” said Leo Imperial, product manager for e-
commerce for PSINet Inc.’s Applications and Web Services unit.
One of the first corporations to launch an Internet shopping solution that
is hosted by PSINet and built on Intershop is Bacardi.
“PSINet’s dedicated hosting service
and Intershop’s store building features were instrumental for our online store
that reflects the Bacardi theme and our worldwide brand name recognition with
advanced Web design and easy navigation,” said Jorge Gutierrez, Bacardi’s
global purchasing manager. The Bacardi Internet store sells apparel and
accessories.
