Internet service company RedCart launched its Universal Shopping
Platform and announced partnerships with LookSmart and PRIMEDIA Inc.
RedCart said its partners can now offer a universal shopping cart service,
creating
integrated marketplaces with access to any online retailer on their own sites.
The company’s patent-pending universal shopping cart technology was introduced
last November. The technology enables browsing, selection and transactions
across multiple online merchants using a single universal cart.
Through the new partnerships, RedCart’s universal shopping service will be
implemented on hundreds of sites.
LookSmart has about 370 ISP partner sites including US West. RedCart is
working with LookSmart to add shopping capabilities to LookSmart’s ISP
partner sites through the LookSmart PremiumShops. RedCart is also
commerce-enabling select PRIMEDIA’s 200-plus Web sites. RedCart’s other
premier partners include iKidstore.com, Cybermoola and WizShop.
Financial
terms of the new deals were not disclosed.
“RedCart provides an innovative private-label solution for integrated
universal shopping,” said Kristin Morse, director of e-commerce at LookSmart.
“Our ISP partners can now offer shopping to their customers and keep them in
their own environment with a branded shopping cart powered by RedCart.”
RedCart’s technology allows partners to offer a customized, integrated
marketplace that allows users to click on links to merchant sites and visit
the actual storefronts, but returns users to the partner site at completion
of the purchase.
The platform includes features such as single
password/login, universal shopping cart, and address book management, and
coming soon, wish list, special offers, and loyalty points.
