Web hosting company Sage Networks Inc. will offer
Mercantec’s
SoftCart to its customers for sales transactions on their e-commerce sites.
Mercantec is a provider of retail
electronic commerce solutions that will allow Sage Networks’ customers to create a
new virtual store or add commerce capabilities to an existing Web site
without changing its look and feel. Financial arrangements between the
companies were not disclosed.
Mercantec’s SoftCart software can automatically take an aggregated order,
calculate tax and shipping charges, and offer a variety of secure online or
offline payment systems. Because SoftCart uses open standards, these commerce
capabilities can be integrated with the customer’s existing accounting,
inventory, order entry, and fulfillment systems.
“With SoftCart, Sage Networks will provide a flexible line of commerce
software that enables merchants with any level of expertise to implement an
online store,” said Bill Tait, vice president and co-founder of Mercantec.
“The Sage Networks and Mercantec relationship is great because both companies
are working towards the same goal of helping customers succeed with
e-commerce.”
