Travelocity Offers Shop Safe Guarantee for Online Transactions

The SABRE Group said that its online travel center Travelocity introduced Shop Safe Guarantee, an added insurance policy against unauthorized credit card usage.

“Customer confidence and trust are our top priorities,” said Terry Jones,
chief information officer of The SABRE Group. “With more than one million
transactions made through The SABRE Group’s consumer Internet products, there
has not been a reported case of credit card theft. The addition of Shop Safe
Guarantee provides our customers an added means of security–making
Travelocity one of the safest ways to book travel online.”

If credit card fraud occurs, most banks waive liability for unauthorized
charges, or limit liability to $50. With Shop Safe Guarantee, The SABRE Group
will reimburse the customer’s liability fee, up to $50, provided the
transaction was made on Travelocity using the site’s secure server.

In addition, The SABRE Group has taken steps to assure consumers that
Travelocity meets strict online security and business standards. Travelocity
recently joined BBBOnLine, a Better Business Bureau initiative dedicated to
helping consumers identify ethical online marketers.

Launched in March of 1996, Travelocity provides reservation capabilities for
more than 420 airlines, 39,000 hotels, and more than 50 car rental companies.
The site claims more than 3 million members and logs more than 50 million page
views per month.

The SABRE Group specializes in the electronic distribution of travel and
travel-related services, offering IT solutions for the travel and
transportation industry,
including customized software development and software product sales,
transaction processing, consulting and outsourcing. Meanwhile, the SABRE Group
denied a published report that it plans to sell data on its airline travel
customers, saying the privacy violations would be “organizational suicide.”
