Yahoo! Inc. Thursday announced the official release of Yahoo! Player.

The free streaming media player provides Yahoo! music consumers an easy solution for playing digital music, including streamed and downloaded MP3 files, as well as CDs.

Yahoo! Player also provides video capabilities, access to radio stations and an integrated Web browser, which delivers relevant music and entertainment content from across the Yahoo! network. Yahoo! also unveiled an enhanced version of Yahoo! Radio, which provides consumers access to hundreds of broadcast and Internet-only radio stations.

“Yahoo! Player gives consumers on Yahoo! Entertainment, including Yahoo! Music, a simplified experience when enjoying their favorite video and digital music files,” said Matt Rightmire, vice president and general manager, media and entertainment, Yahoo! Inc. “The product supports Yahoo! Music’s strategy of being the one place anyone needs to go to find, learn about, listen to, or communicate with others about music.

We will continue to develop and expand the Yahoo! Player as the easiest way for Yahoo! users to enjoy their music and entertainment.”

Designed to support and complement other formats, Yahoo! Player consists of a control panel, playlist window, video viewer, radio station panel, and integrated Web browser, featuring the latest audio and video content.
