It’s become commonplace for workers of all kinds to carry mobile devices around with them on the job, and maintenance and facility managers are no exception. But all too often, those devices are only peripheral to people’s workflow.
IBM is looking to change that. With the new Maximo Everyplace, an upgrade to the Maximo asset-management software, IBM is looking to enable workers to tailor mobile apps to their workflow through a browser-based interface that syncs with Android devices and Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch. IBM (NYSE: IBM) wondered the same thing, leading to an extension of its Maximo asset management software, called Maximo Everyplace, designed specifically for mobile devices. The new browser-based edition works on Android devices or the iPhone as well as the iPod Touch (which includes Wi-Fi connectivity).
