BakBone Software Delivers Open File Protection Solution

Oct 17, 2001

BakBone Software(TM) , a provider of storage management software, announced today the availability of Open File Manager(TM) APM(TM) with BakBone’s NetVault(TM) backup and recovery software. Offered as an Application Plugin Module (APM), the combined solutions provide NetVault customers with the ability to successfully capture files that are open and in use and include them in a NetVault backup.

According to Bakbone, NetVault’s Open File Manager APM seamlessly integrates into any NetVault backup and restore job management scheme, capturing open and in-use files through the creation of a point-in-time image. The processes are disk-based so anti-virus and other file-based applications do not interfere with the integrity of the backed up data. The Open File Manager APM automatically provides dynamic image caching in 1Kbyte increments, minimizing on-disk space utilization while providing maximized performance.

“In today’s 24×7 information availability economy, open file management capabilities are a valuable component of any data storage management strategy,” said Mike Johnson, Director of Product Management at BakBone Software. “By integrating the market-leading Open File Manager API from St. Bernard Software, BakBone now provides end-users with the safest, most reliable and easiest to use solution available on the market today.”

The Open File Manager APM is available now for Windows NT/2000 client/servers. Pricing is $595 per APM.
