BakBone Software, a provider of storage management software, supports EMC Corporation’s CLARiiON IP4700 network attached storage (NAS) systems with the NetVault NDMP Application Plugin Module (APM).

As part of BakBone’s participation in the EMC E-Infostructure Developers Program, the NDMP APM has been qualified with EMC CLARiiON IP4700 systems to provide centralized administration of backup and restore operations. The company said the NDMP APM maximizes backup performance by providing a solution for the CLARiiON IP4700 that includes local backup, automation control, directory-level relocates, and dynamic drive sharing capabilities.

According to BakBone, using NetVault’s domain management and device handling features, the NDMP APM supports multiple CLARiiON IP4700 backup topologies including NDMP Local, NDMP Local Library, NDMP Local Shared Library, NDMP SAN-connected Shared Library, NDMP 3-way and NDMP Remote. As a result of the qualification, BakBone supports all the backup solution topologies for CLARiiON storage systems.

The company said the NDMP APM for CLARiiON IP4700 is available on UNIX, Linux and Windows platforms with two NDMP backup options: NetVault’s NDMP APM Server license and the NDMP Data Mover Client, which permits the user to backup data from one filer through another at a reduced cost.
