CommVault Updates Data and Storage Management Solution

Storage management software company, CommVault Systems Inc.. today announced the release of CommVault(R) Galaxy(TM) Version 3.1, its latest data and storage management solution.

According to CommVault, Galaxy 3.1 includes what it calls intelligent software-based dynamic drive sharing (iDDS) to help users optimize tape resources in SAN configurations by allocating drives based on storage policies rather than a SCSI command set. Galaxy 3.1 also offers unified support for the HP/UX and Red Hat Linux operating systems, and a centralized interface.

Bob Hammer, president, chairman and CEO of CommVault, said, “CommVault Galaxy Version 3.1 expands heterogeneous platform and application support to deliver best-in-class enterprise data management and protection while increasing ROI and reducing total cost of ownership – familiar hallmarks of CommVault’s reputation and vision.”

CommVault says that Galaxy is a fully integrated enterprise data and storage management solution. It is designed to manage distributed heterogeneous computing environments, enable administrators to view data logically rather than physically, and supports any storage model, including storage area networks (SANs), network attached storage (NAS) and existing LAN-based infrastructures.
