CommVault Announces Support for StorageTek Automated Library Software

Nov 29, 2001

CommVault(R) Systems, a provider of enterprise data management solutions, and Storage Technology Corporation, Inc. (StorageTek(R) this week announced the availability of the CommVault Galaxy, version 3.7, data management software solution for StorageTek Automated Cartridge System Library Software (ACSLS)(TM) release 6.0 (and greater) environments.

StorageTek(R) ACSLS(TM) is a UNIX-based library-enablement application that the company said functions as the central service provider for all library operations. The extension of Galaxy support for ACSLS enables customers to store and retrieve data from the entire family of StorageTek Tape Libraries — from the L-series to the enterprise-class PowderHorn libraries.

“CommVault fully understands the need to provide customer with solutions that leverage current investments in StorageTek libraries,” said Eric Rice, director of strategic alliances, CommVault Systems. “ACSLS support enables both companies to effectively address customers’ demand for complementary software and hardware technologies that enable maximum return on investment, while also providing flexible management choices.”

“StorageTek and CommVault work closely together to ensure that Galaxy takes full advantage of advanced StorageTek library and tape drive technologies,” said Pete Koliopoulos, StorageTek director of marketing, Automated Tape Solutions. “Our mutual aim is to ensure that customers are achieving their goals of total data protection with CommVault Galaxy and StorageTek storage networking and automated tape solutions.”
