McDATA Intensifies Focus on Switch Market

Dec 19, 2001

McDATA Corporation this week announced the formation of a Switch Product Group.

The company said the newly formed group will be responsible for further strengthening the company’s presence in the fabric switch market. By placing dedicated focus on its switch product lines, McDATA said it plans to better address the needs and requirements of customers, many in the small-to-mid-size enterprise sector, with best-of-breed products.

Doug Rainbolt, McDATA’s Senior Director of Product Marketing, has been promoted to Vice President, Switch Product Group. Rainbolt will be responsible for managing McDATA’s fabric switch business, assuring revenue and profit maximization from current offerings and ensuring McDATA’s position is further strengthened with future products and services.

“This action reaffirms McDATA’s commitment to providing customers with the most scalable and comprehensive solution for their environment,” said John Kelley, Chief Operating Officer and President. “From our inception we’ve demonstrated our unique ability to solve customer issues and this is just another way we are focusing our expertise in a specialized area in order to help customers maximize their information and build on their success.”

According to McDATA, the 1000 Series Loop Switch and 3000 Series Fabric Switch lines complement its vision of addressing business pain points by providing a core-to-edge family of products.
