Compaq Computer Corporation today announced the expansion of its network-attached storage (NAS) product line and business continuance solutions
According to the company, StorageWorks NAS S1000 is an entry-level NAS solution that delivers NAS storage with multi-protocol file support and storage management for workgroups, small businesses and remote locations.
StorageWorks NAS B3000 is the entry point to Compaq’s
NAS / SAN fusion solutions (Universal Network Storage). It scales up to 27TB, includes clustering, Advanced DataGuarding (RAID ADG), and integrated software packages. It also comes in no single point of failure configurations, a turnkey package with configurations that include all of the components to provide block and file serving.
SANworks Data Protection Suite for Backup and Restore is a
solution for data protection of DAS or SAN environments. When
purchasing backup and restore software through Compaq, customers also
receive the SANworks Data Protection Suite for Tape Utilities that
includes product information on Compaq tape
backup/restore solutions. The company said customers can create a data protection
strategy for their data as well as work with just Compaq to supply the entire solution. Current solutions include
CommVault Galaxy, Computer Associates BrightStor ARCserve, Dantz
Retrospect, and VERITAS Backup Exec.
Compaq said StorageWorks Network Storage Router M2402 features support for
server-less backup, 1Gb and 2Gb Fibre Channel and web-based, remote
management. According to the company, backup speeds to SCSI libraries can be increased by up to 90 percent. StorageWorks ESL9595SL provides a backup and restore
solution with component level redundancy, high availability, enterprise
level capacity and SDLT drives in a small footprint for direct SCSI
and SAN environments. StorageWorks DLT1 1280 SuperLoader’s feature set includes rich remote web-based management, removable drive DCA and magazine cartridges and
an import/export mail slot.
