Fujitsu Computer Products of America MAN Series hard disk drives (HDDs) have been qualified for Adaptec’s DuraStor external storage solutions.

Adaptec said its DuraStor subsystems include a 1U RAID appliance that holds up to two RAID controller cards, a 2U SCSI storage enclosure, and Storage Manager Pro software. The subsystems can be scaled to 876GB by installing up to 12 one-inch, 73GB drives in a single storage enclosure. Up to three enclosures can be supported by any single DuraStor RAID appliance, providing nearly 2.7TB of centralized SCSI storage and nearly 3.5TB of networked storage with Fibre Channel. The company said the full solution comes with a free one-year on-site service and support plan as well as other upgradeable service options.

Fujitsu said its enterprise-class hard disk drives offer capacities up to 73.5GB, an average seek time of 4.5 ms, and an average rotational latency of 2.99 ms. In addition to their interoperability announcement, Fujitsu and Adaptec said they are planning a series of joint marketing activities to support qualified products in the channel.
