Gadzoox Networks’ Switches Certified With QLogic HBAs/Switches

Gadzoox Networks Inc. today announced that it has successfully completed interoperability testing of its Slingshot 2Gb Open Fabric switch family with QLogic Corporation’s host bus adapters (HBAs) and 2Gb SAN switches.

According to Gadzoox Networks, its Slingshot family of switches was tested with QLogic’s SANblade QLA2200 and QLA2300 series of HBAs and the SANbox2 switch at both 1Gb and 2Gb speeds within Windows 2000 and NT operating environments. The testing included hardware configurations with various servers, drives (both Fibre Channel and SCSI), JBODs and tape vendors. Gadzoox Networks and QLogic also utilized software benchmarks, such as Iometer and WinBench, and tested software applications including Back-up Exec by VERITAS and SAN Symphony by Datacore. The companies said all of the QLogic and Gadzoox Networks products involved in the testing are standards-based Fibre Channel products.

“The industry is transitioning to the third generation of SANs, and customers should settle for nothing less than interoperable, standards-based solutions. We’re pleased to be leading the transition to open SAN solutions with partners such as QLogic,” said Clark Foy, vice president, sales and marketing, Gadzoox Networks. “Interoperability and implementation costs are the two major barriers holding back the broader adoption of SANs, and we are determined to remove these concerns for our customers.”
