Enterprise Data Server vendor Auspex Systems, Inc. today announced the appointment of Ideal Hardware as the primary distributor of its Network Attached Storage (NAS) servers in the UK. Ideal, a subsidiary of Bell Microproducts, is one of the UK’s largest value-added distributors specializing in enterprise storage.

“The addition of AUSPEX’s NAS family of products to our portfolio strengthens our NAS strategy and complements the Storage Area Network (SAN) strategies and high-end platforms we are now developing and investing in,” said Mike Collins, Ideal’s NAS product manager. “We now have the opportunity to deliver fully integrated enterprise storage solutions as well as the ability to offer NAS servers to our resellers, thereby taking advantage of the need for robust solutions to store, serve and manage the escalating volumes of data in today’s business environments.”

According to Auspex, its products are designed for customers with traditional business applications as well as corporate Internet sites, including those with dynamic business-to-business e-commerce functions. They are designed to provide fast and seamless file sharing between Unix and Windows clients, with a unique restricted file permission that prevents unauthorized users from accessing protected Unix or Windows files across platforms.
