Legend And IBM to Market Storage Technology In China


Legend Holdings Limited, a PC manufacturer in China, and IBM today announced a strategic OEM relationship for storage technology, products and market support in China.

In the agreement, Legend will integrate and market IBM RAID and storage subsystem technology spanning from Mylex server-based RAID controllers to external storage enclosures and subsystems. In addition to OEM products, IBM plans to provide Legend marketing and technical training as well as local support to build a strong foundation for storage and RAID product knowledge.

“Storage technology is becoming a crucial and core part in the establishment and development of IT infrastructure of enterprises. Legend’s entry into the storage arena will enhance our capability in providing applications and services to corporate clients. With our profound experience in server technology and applications as well as the support from Legend Research Institute and IBM, we are confident that we could provide the best storage products and solutions,” said Legend senior vice president, Mr. Qiao Song.

“We are very pleased to team up with Legend to bring our industry-leading storage subsystem technology to the market in China,” said David Walling, vice president of marketing for Mylex Storage Systems at IBM. “Legend’s market knowledge and leading position, combined with IBM technology and expertise, will help to quickly expand the benefits of RAID storage to an entirely new set of customers.”


In related news today, Legend launched a series of storage products and solutions in Beijing. Among them are the SureFibre200 and SureFibre400, which incorporate OEM RAID storage technology from IBM.
