MTI Technology Corp. today introduced the Vivant 400 Series, a storage solution that the company said provides end-to-end 2-gigabit Fibre Channel technology. MTI said the new series supports multiple heterogeneous Open Systems host servers running a wide variety of operating systems and applications.

According to the company, the Vivant 400 supports 36.4 and 72.8 GB drives, is modular in design, and is available in both SAN and direct-attached models. Additionally, the Vivant 400 supports MTI’s StingRay network attached storage (NAS) architecture, which enables both SAN and NAS to be combined in a single solution, as well as the company’s backup and mirroring software. It is aimed at enterprises running business-critical applications on mid-range and high-end UNIX and Windows servers and handles up to 12.8 terabytes (176 disk drives) per cabinet or rack.

The Vivant 400 is available now, in rackmount, 20- and 70-inch cabinet, and tower configurations, with multi-terabyte solutions.
