MTI Technology Corp., a provider of storage and business solutions, announced a high-end addition to its popular Vivant S Series of storage area network (SAN)-based storage solutions that expands capacity to 17 terabytes. The company said it also enhanced connectivity options for multiple UNIX and Windows hosts.

The company said the new Vivant S270 delivers fourfold improvement in RAID performance and capacity to the S Series, and double the host server connectivity. The foundation of the Vivant S Series is MTI’s DataServices architecture, which the company said allows a modular approach in creating storage solutions that meet individual customer requirements.

According to MTI, the Vivant S270 provides a standard configuration that includes four pairs of dual RAID controllers, drive bays for up to 96 disk drives, and 32 switched Fibre Channel connectivity ports. Available in rackmount and 70-inch cabinet configurations, the S270 offers a completely configured SAN with up to 17TB of capacity in 36U of space.
