Plasmon, a maker of high-performance storage automation, this week announced it began shipping the latest generation of LTO Ultrium tape automation products.
To complement its existing 10 and 21 slot autoloader products, the company said, the LTO 68 and LTO 100 libraries incorporate Plasmon’s latest automation technology and IBM Ultrium tape drives to provide high-performance SAN, NAS and standard systems connectivity combined with proven, patented robotics.
“The automation contained in Plasmon’s LTO Ultrium tape libraries is designed to the demanding and rigorous standards of optical robotics. Plasmon will continue to leverage our automation expertise into new removable technologies and formats,” said Rob McPherson, president of Plasmon IDE.
Initially shipping with integrated SCSI-2 LVD interfaces, the libraries can connect via bridge to fibre-ready SAN, or natively to NAS. According to Plasmon, the units also offer remote diagnostics capability and hot swappable components for on-line replacement with continuous access to data.
