NTP Softwaretoday announced its new release of NTP Software Quota & File Sentinel(TM), a Storage Resource Management technology that the company said offers a self-managing, end-to-end SRM architecture.

“NTP Software has a unique enterprise SRM strategy. They also provide a policy-based engine (EASE) that can drive a self-managing SRM solution that integrates into your overall storage environment. EASE could save hundreds of man-hours over conventional server by server administration, effectively implemented. Their latest solution, Quota & File Sentinel, offers an enterprise-based quota and file screening environment, with messaging. Some of their customers are using this policy-based engine to allow users and departments to manage their own storage needs, thus removing a lot of this burden from the I.T. staff,” says David G. Hill, Research Director, Storage and Storage Management, Aberdeen Group.

While there are many new features in this release of Quota & File Sentinel, the company said the most important of these is the ability to push (install) QFS across an enterprise network without requiring a reboot of the servers or workstations.

NTP Software Quota & File Sentinel is available. Pricing begins at $995 per server.
